My name is Bill McCormick. In addition to running Custom Serenade, I am passionate about playing the guitar and also about teaching. In the Chapel Hill/Carrboro area, we are lucky to have a plethora of great guitarists and guitar teachers. Two things set me apart from the others. First, I am a certified elementary school teacher and really know how to work and communicate with children. Second, my guitar curriculum includes a songwriting component that incorporates literacy, basic music theory, and digital recording. Students will learn not only the fundamentals of the guitar, but will also study the elements of song structure and the composition of lyrics. The end goal is for the young musician to put their guitar skills to use by writing, playing, and recording his or her own original song. They will also have an active part in the recording process and will learn to use recording software. I have previously used this curriculum at The ArtsCenter in Carrboro, Carolina Friends School, Orange Charter School and various other learning facilities.
These lessons are one on one and tailored to the needs and interests of the student.
I currently have time slots available after 5:30 PM on Tuesdays, and starting at 4:00 PM on Thursdays. Rates are 40 dollars per hour, or 25 dollars for a half hour.
I work primarily with kids, but am nice to adults too!
